Letting go and letting the interior angel limp in!
“One day the hero
sits down,

afraid to take
another step,
and the old interior angel
limps slowly in
with her no-nonsense
compassion
and her old secret
and goes ahead.
‘Namaste’
you say
and follow.”
- from “The Old Interior Angel”, by David Whyte
I find this poem a lovely reminder that however resilient I am, it is not the hero in me that provides my strength in the end but it is the interior condition of my heart and soul – my very own “interior angel”. When thing get tough it makes it easier to let go and trust when I remember that. Even though that angel may limp, at least she is no-nonsense and trust worthy.
I trust too that families, not feeling like heros, around the world, and today especially the grieving family and friends of 4 year old Lucas in Gisborne, New Zealand, gain strength from this.
How much do you love this poem?

Fantastic post. I used to spend alot of my time sailing and being involved in sports. It was quite possible the best period of my childhood and your blog kind of brought back us of that time. Thanks
